OUR HISTORY

The Reynolds Story - A Family Tradition

Heber C. Reynolds built homes during the Great Depression in the late 1930’s. His goal was to help keep family and friends working so they could provide income for their families.

His main business at the time was running a fish hatchery, selling fish to the public, businesses, and to the government. His fish hatchery business needed a piece of equipment to clean the ponds, but only needed it part time. Heber’s sons, C. Shirley Reynolds and J. Gordon Reynolds, decided they could use the equipment to start a new business later known as Reynolds Brothers Excavation. Their youngest brother, C. Calvin Reynolds, joined the team and the brothers worked the business together and built it to a volume of $3 million a year.

Steadfast Integrity and Hard Work

In 1991 the next Reynolds generation, Gary Reynolds and Rob Reynolds, purchased the business and began an aggressive and strong growth mode. Each year they added many pieces of new equipment and continued to grow their staff.

By 2010 Reynolds annual volume had hit $60 million. Along with the traditional excavation work, Gary and Rob had added sand and gravel pits, a demolition business and equipment, utility work, a construction and demolition landfill business, and a real estate development business - along with other non-related businesses.

In 2011 Oldcastle Materials acquired the heavy construction and materials part of their business.
